Often I heard people talking about improving their credit score, but never tried to lend them my ears, for I had never thought of it that someday my own credit score would go down without my knowing it. Credit scoring history of the people like me had always been good in the past. It happened because everything was going on well and everyone was reaping the harvest of the boom. Even then, I never talked about boom, let alone credit score. It just came to mind around two years ago, when I applied in a bank for loan to own a house.
The banking agent or person in charge for the mortgage asked me my credit rating and score sheet. I simply went blank. I had already defaulted to one of my employers, thanks not to my luck but to him, he kept me on the job with him because his own financial constraints. I showed my salary slip to the bank officer. However, he did not move even an inch and kept on claiming my entire credit score and report. I went back to my employer and asked him. To my surprise, he said you have already borrowed a massive amount as a loan for your wedding and added that he could not provide any guarantee. I implored him that the bank is not asking for a guarantee. It is simply demanding some figures with a positive note. However, he refused to entertain my request and left me in the lurch.
I did not pity his conduct, when in the evening, my working wife told me that her credit score is not up to the mark, and her application to her employer for loan was also rejected. I got the point of positive and strong credit scores and since then sweating day in and day out to improve it.
